Sustainability

Whether you are building to LEED certification or simply interested in doing your part by creating "green" workspaces, King Business Interiors has products and services for you. At King Business Interiors, we advance green initiatives in the following ways:

Sustainable Products
Our preferred line of furniture, Haworth, offers a myriad of sustainable, adaptable solutions that support building and interior design. Products such as raised flooring and movable walls make office changes easier, less costly, and result in less waste for a lower impact on the environment. Office furnishings are Green Guard, SCS, MBDC, or Cradle to Cradle certified; contributing points toward LEED certification while improving the quality of interior workspaces and supporting the environment. Haworth is devoted to sustainable design, organic workspaces, and workspace functionality. With a new corporate headquarters that earned LEED-NC Gold Certification, Haworth is living proof of the beauty, functionality, and benefits of sustainable solutions. Additionally, many of the over 300 manufacturers we represent also offer solutions that contribute to LEED certification and other sustainable, green objectives. Click here to view manufacturers' offerings.

Connecting the Dots
In 2004, we started an environmentally friendly program called, "Connecting the Dots." Through this program, we collect used office furnishings from clients purchasing new furniture and distribute the reusable furniture to charitable and nonprofit organizations throughout the Greater Central Ohio area.

Each year we divert numerous truckloads of durable materials from our local landfills, while helping area charitable and nonprofit organizations to fulfill their mission in the community.

Recycling
At King Business Interiors, we are committed to recycling everything from paper to furnishings. Our warehouse is set up with recycling in mind. Delivery and pick-up areas are delineated for the sorting and recycling of specific materials. Packaging materials such as cardboard and plastics are recycled as well as any furniture that is too damaged to be redeployed for other uses.

In 2007 alone, we estimate that we recycled 133 tons of cardboard, 600 lbs. of plastic, 1,300 wood pallets that were made into mulch, and 3,000 lbs. of metal and aluminum.

We also sell/donate unwanted furnishings to a local small business that refurbishes the products and re-sells them to the general public, diverting durable materials from the local landfills and supporting our local business economy at the same time.
